The 2004 team celebrates their victory

This December, the U.S. Women's Beach Ultimate
Team will be heading to Maceio, Brazil to defend its title in the World
Championships of Beach Ultimate.
In 2004, in Figuiera da Foz, Portugal, the U.S. women beat Germany by
1 point at the cap to take the tournament. After trading points for much
of the game, the US found itself down by 3 points - and the cap was on.
It was 9 - 6, game to 11. So, the US clamped on a zone that Germany just
couldn't break and scored 4 quick points on turnovers near Germany's endzone.
Germany tied it at 10's and then pulled to the US, who marched it down
the field. Robin Ohls threw a quick short pass to Margalit Gould in the
endzone and the US had won the tournament!
Now, we need your help to get us to Brazil to defend our title. Our goal
is to raise $20,000 for 10 team members to cover airfare, hotel, food,
and tourney fees. We'll be sure and keep you updated on our progress as
we try to win it all again in 2007.
Thanks so much!! |
