  1. when does summer league start and end?

  2. The first game will be Monday, June 1, and it runs 12 weeks, ending Friday, August 21. The tournament is in San Pedro Sunday, August 23.

  3. how does the lottery work exactly? just names out of a hat?

  4. Well, in a perfect world, I’d have everyone’s name on a ping pong ball, and I’d have this giant ball holder which would spit out a ball every 5-10 seconds. But until I can find one of those, yeah, it’ll be names out of a hat.

  5. So the order in which we register has no bearing on anything? Just register and pay by April 17 to be eligible for the lottery?

  6. That’s correct. Every guy who registers between April 7 - 17, and requests to play in Co-ed, will be eligible for the lottery regardless of the order in which they register.

  7. where are the games in the league played? will they be at different places every week?

  8. So we don’t need to be physically present at the rose bowl pick for the lottery unless we’re looking for a good show?
Will you televise it, i.e. NBA style…

  9. No, you don’t need to be there for the lottery. I wish I could simulcast it. I was thinking about filming it and putting it on Youtube. I might still do it. That way you can get the real intrigue.

All information about the league will be posted in the FAQ on April 7th. But to answer that question, the games will be at Balboa Field in Encino, with one game in Venice for each team.

  10. You can use the random number generator function in excel which would save you time but where would the fun be in that?

  11. can i sign up for coed and then if i win the lottery sell my spot to someone that actually wants it?

  12. are the games usually on weekdays?

  13. Um, why would you sign up if you didn’t want to play coed?

  14. where do you register, there’s no form?

  15. Andy - I tried to pay you via paypal, but the link that shows up is for Women’s League (and $15). I can just write a check, but wanted to make sure you knew that was happening!

    =)

  16. Si-mul-cast! Si-mul-cast! Si-Mul-Cast!!

But really, I have been waiting (my whole life, literally) for a late night Andy Bandit webcam show… this is your opportunity…

  17. I’ve got all the fields filled out and hit the submit button the registration form and I keep getting the registrations form with no indication of what might be going wrong.

I’ve used two different browsers - Safari 4 and Firefox 3.08 on a Mac running OS X 10.5.6

  18. When I hit Submit Info, nothing happens… Bug in the form?

  19. filled in player info and submitted, but nothing changed. No registration button available.

    help?

  20. andy, i will build you a ping pong ball mixer/dispenser. you provide the ping pong balls.

  21. How much are 200 ping pong balls?

  22. I submitted my registration and paid on pay pal. Got the verification email from pay pal but nothing from you Andy. am I registered?

  23. Ditto to Stephen Thies comment. I didn’t get a registration confirmation but I did get a confirmation from paypal….

  24. Andy, 144 ping pong balls on Amazon cost about $22. I think you should let Barrs build it.

  25. Smaller shirts for small people? Is there anyway to order Youth size t-shirts for summer league? I can’t imagine it costs any more. I never keep my ultimate league shirts because they are always too big for me. Admittedly, I am small, but I bet at least 5-10% of the women that order a small would prefer a youth large. Anyone want to back me up on this?

  26. Ditto to the small shirt.

  27. Everyone should wear small shirts (just like Marce and Biclops).

  28. I’m going to move to LA at the end of June - can I sign up and just not play half the season? Feel free to e-mail me..Thanks!

  29. I taught at a school that had a big bingo/raffle/lottery rotating drum and could probably borrow it if you want to get really Price Is Right-y with the summer league lottery. I would think it could fit 200 ping pong balls. You’d have to write names/numbers on all those freaking balls but that would totally be worth it for the potentially glorious YouTube video (that would be funny for 5 seconds, but last 15 minutes).

  30. Youth shirts, I’ll ask about that.

Anyone can sign up for half a season. That’s fine.

If you can get a rotating drum, and save Barrs having to build one, I will buy ping pong balls and write on all of them. And hopefully film it and put it on Youtube.

  31. Don’t think you can get away with doing the lottery in the privacy of your own home, Andy Bandit. This has frozen envelope written all over it.

Though, for the record, if Patrick Ewing registers I’m ok with you freezing his ping-pong ball to make sure he ends up in men’s league. That dude needs to watch his elbows.

  32. So I registered on Wordpress….what next? How do I request being on someone’s team?

  33. For Elzerl - After you register for summer league, (and I believe you get a conformation email if you were successful) you get put in a master list for the draft. There is no request to be put on someone’s team. It’s a secret draft where beer swilling captains attempt in their inebriated state to make the best team possible using people’s self ratings and the 8 players in LA that they know. Captains hope that they picked well, players hope their captains chose wisely and Andy Bandit (summer league commissioner) works his ass off to do his best to make sure everyone has fun. Usually it works out better than one might expect,

  34. Seth, you just made the most appealing case to be captain I’ve ever heard

  35. i would be interested in joing the league.
please contact me at your earliest convenience.
    great day

  36. I got a confirmation email from paypal, but not from LAout……am i in? when is the updated list going to be put up?

  37. andy, i tried a few times to register on the laout site but never got a password or any e-mail, even in my junk folder. i will send you my info and payment by another means but please note that i would like to join summer league. thanx dc

  38. So I registered online, got the confirmation, and sent the payment, but I’m not on the current list of registered players. What do i do?

  39. If you have not received the payment, can I pay through pay pal?

  40. is it still possible to register, a mens league would be sick during summer

  41. Hi Andy - I tried to register the other day, and it didn’t work. Now it says it closed… Am I SOL? Thanks, Kristin 801.455.8781

  42. In the men’s league how many people will there be on a team?

  43. Looks like it’s gonna be 16 players per team for Men’s League.

Registration IS closed for women. However, if you sign up now, you would go on the waiting list. There’s always people who drop during the year, and I usually need subs at some point. It could take several weeks, but the season is long (12 weeks) so if you’re patient, I can probably get you on a team in time.

  44. I billionth that smaller shirts order … I’m a smaller person and shirts from events like this usually swallow me!

  45. I hope this message gets out
whoever drafts me in coed, can you please call me and let me know when our game is next week asap so I can make sure I don’t have to work that day

    661-755-3096

  46. Where can I go to see what team I got drafted to?

  47. Seth, you just made the most appealing case to be captain I’ve ever heard

  48. I’ll be coming to Pasadena Rose Bowl pick up today.
I’m sure I’m gonna suck but it’s time to play some ultimate.

  49. LOVE LOVE LOVE the publicized self-ratings!!! This could keep me busy and giggling all morning.

  50. Shoot! I missed out on the registry. Anyway I could get picked up? I’m an advanced player who just wants to play hard. Email me if you have an opening. Jklimek1@gmail.com

  51. I think you should enable comments on the calendar entries to facilitate heckling prior to the games!
