Jun 24th, 2010 | By AndyBandit | Category: Summer League

Date: Sunday August 22, 2010

Location: California State Polytechnic University in Pomona (Cal Poly Pomona)

Start Time: First round begins at 9 am. Second round begins at 11AM. Please be on time.

CLICK HERE for the final tournament match-ups.  Tab 3 is the Co-ed league, and Tab 4 is the Men’s League.  Tabs 1 & 2 show the schedule by rounds.  This is the schedule for all games, including loser’s brackets if you scroll below the main brackets.

Tournament Map: Click here for a map of the fields.  NOT a map of the university.

Directions:

  • Take either the 10 E or the 210 E
  • Take the 57 S
  • exit at Temple (first exit south of the 10)
  • go R off exit, heading west on Temple
  • R on University Dr.
  • R into parking lots marked Lot K
  • Parking & fields on L – can’t miss ‘em :-)

Party: At the Character sports bar.  276 East 1st Street.  This is a new location.  It’s not the one we used to go to.  It’s about 10-15 minutes drive from the fields. (909) 622-9070  Unfortunately, those of you under the age of 21 cannot attend the party.  My apologies for that.  I didn’t learn that until this week.

Ending Time: Last round is scheduled to end around 6 pm, so I told the sports bar to expect us between 6 and 6:30.

Pool: We get the pool from 11:30 until the rest of the day.  So bring your swim shorts for when you have byes.

Parking: Parking is $3 per car, so I recommend carpooling.  There will be yellow ticket booths in the lot that you have to get the parking permit from.

Rules: Mostly the same as the regular season.  I’ll have these at the tournament for you.

11th edition rules, unless otherwise noted below.
- Games for both Co-ed and Men’s are to 13.  Finals to 15.
- Mirror halves at 7.
- One time out per half plus a floater.
- No time-outs once the soft cap has been reached.
- No time-outs in overtime. Overtime begins at 12-12. 14-14 in finals.
- You may sub up to two players during a time-out.
- Foot blocks are illegal.  They’re counted as a foul.  Attempted foot blocks are a violation.
- Soft cap means complete the point, then add 2 to the leading total.  Still win by 2. (One horn blow for soft cap.)
- Hard cap means complete the point, then add 1 to leading total.  Game plays until that point is reached, regardless of how far behind a team is. (Two horn blows for hard cap.)

  1. Hey Andy
A possibility could be Pierce College in Woodland Hills. Not sure if they are available, but thay do have a lot of open fields… Just an idea.. Peace P

  2. Maybe you should try checking for the next weekend 28 or 29 of August. Just an idea (and I could actually be
there which would be cool for me!) JL

  3. have you thought about the fields in San Bernardino, the Blast soccer fields and the soccer complex regionals were at a few years ago.

  4. Remember back in 2002 when the summer league tourney was at Cal Poly Pomona? Well, I don’t because I was in high school in nor cal and had no idea what Ultimate was in 2002. The moral of the story….bring the summer league tourney back to Cal Poly Pomona so that I can ride my bike there!

  5. Cal State Northridge perhaps?

  6. My vote’s for Cal Poly Pomona as well — who doesn’t like a cool swimming pool after a hot tournament? I have very fond memories of that swimming pool…

  7. Might as well go to Palm Springs if we are going to hike all the way out to Cal Poly.. but as long as the grass is green im in!

  8. So I’m already driving from Carpenteria every week, if people are throwing a vote in for palm springs, I’m throwing my vote for ventura… Kimball community park in Ventura they have a ton of new fields, and a badass pool…whatcha know about that?

  9. Maybe it could be in Colorado – then Leslie could make out with every guy again – just like old times. Awww – I’m feeling very nostalgic all of a sudden – is it too late to join summer league??

  10. I’m for Colorado, since I live there. ;-)

But I do remember playing at Pomona. Nice fields, nice pool. Good location. And not a bad drive early on a weekend.

  11. Rancho Park?

  12. That’s a different Sean…I’m still pulling for Ventura…don’t let that vote fool you!

  13. Sean says Sean wants Rancho Park

  14. Right.. but by Rancho Park.. I mean Ventura

  15. I make the trek out from Long Beach all the time, the fields are gorgeous and have no gopher holes or any painful masses around. Lots of field space, and a great city haha. Worth a shot.

  16. And I meant to say that we should play at CSULB. (Lost internet for a sec) Sorry for 2 posts.

  17. doing a little happy dance right now… *Cal Poly Pomona Student*

  18. I can look out my bedroom window and see the fields. Makes a nice change from an hour drive every week!
