When: Sunday March 13, 2005. Games start at 9 AM.
For those of you with first round byes, round 2 starts at 11 AM. Four rounds of games.
In an effort to isolate the A bracket finals so more people can watch it, the
semis & finals will start later than other games. All games are to 13 except the
A bracket semis and finals which are to 15.
Where: Balboa Park in Encino. Hopefully you all
know how to get there by now, but in case not:
Directions: From the 101 (just west of the 405
junction), exit at Balboa Blvd. heading north. Go straight through the first traffic light after
the freeway (Burbank Blvd.), and you'll see the fields
on your left.
Water, bananas and bagels will be provided. But please bring extra just in case.
Also, there will be someone selling gatorade.
Party following the finals at Chevy's on Ventura Blvd.
Take Balboa Blvd south, turn left on Ventura, Chevy's is on your left.
Seeding: The top two teams from each Division will be seeded
1-4 and will get first round byes, with the top team
from each division seeded 1 & 2. The next eight teams regardless of division will be seeded 5-12 and will
make up the rest of the A bracket. The bottom six teams seeded 13-18 will be the B bracket. The top two B teams
(#13 & 14) will get first round byes.
Seeding will be done based on the following criteria:
1) Winning percentage
2) Head-to-head
3) Strength of schedule
4) Point differential
If necessary, Strength of Schedule may take precedence over Winning Percentage if there's a strong case to be made that a team is seeded incorrectly due to all the rainouts.
You can check out the Standings to see where teams currently stand as of the last posted games.
Observers: For the A bracket finals only there will be observers recently trained by the UPA. As far as we know, this is the first time we've had observers at any LA tournament.
