What: Winter League 2008 (the 22nd annual) is a Los Angeles area coed league of pre-made teams. This is the eleventh year Winter League is being run by LAOUT.
Where: All Winter League games are played at the Balboa Sports Complex in scenic Encino, CA
When: Most games will be played Monday - Thursday nights and begin at 8:30 pm. There will be no games on Martin Luther King Day, President’s Day, or Valentine’s Day; these games will be replaced by Friday night games. Each Winter League team will play one game a week during the nine week regular season. The regular season will begin Monday, January 7 and will end on Thursday, March 6. In case of rain, games are usually cancelled - call 818-756-9807 to check. The one-day league championship tournament will most likely be Saturday, March 8.
Who:
1) Any ultimate player who lives in the LA area may play. Anyone
can form a team, but there are many teams which are established from previous
years that may need more players. If you played last year you probably know
who to contact this year. If you don't have a team but would like to play, contact
Jason and you can either play in
the 5th Annual Free Agent Showcase Game (info soon), or he will try to find
you a team.
2) In order to play in the championship tournament, you must have played at
least 2 regular season league games. All teams must submit an Opening Day Roster.
Teams may add players during the season and there are no roster size limits
(see below for exceptions), but no player may be added to a team after the conclusion
of the fifth week of the season. Final rosters will be due on Sunday, February
10.
3) Because the lack of women is always a problem, every team is limited to 6
women until every other team has that many. Once every team has at least 6 women,
you may add more women to your roster.
Other Stuff:
1) This is a coed league. This year, the format will 4m/3f or 5m/2f, offense
chooses. There will be specific rules governing coed play when one team has
four or fewer women present at a game, however, the goal is to play 4m/3f or
5m/2f, offense chooses, whenever possible.
2) Shirts will not be provided in our continuing efforts to keep costs at a
minimum, so please bring both a dark and a white shirt unless your team is coordinated
enough to all show up in fluorescent orange (in this case make sure the other
team is not also planning to wear orange).
3) We will not be a UPA sanctioned league this year, so you need not be a UPA
member to play.

Include your team name and tentative roster, and also email Jason to let him know the check is in the mail. Opening Day Rosters will be due Sunday, January 7.
