Women's Beach League 2008 FAQ

What is Women's League?

Women's League is a hat league (meaning people sign up as individuals and are placed on a team, the idea being to spread out the beginners and the experienced players so that each team has a mix of both) organized by the Los Angeles Organization of Ultimate Teams (LAOUT). This is LAOUT's 3rd year organizing a women's league!

Why?

To promote the growth of women's ultimate in LA, and give players the opportunity to play with and against all women, as an alternative to coed.

When does it happen?

Women's League will be played on 4 consecutive Sundays in the late spring: April 27 through May 18. On April 20 (the Sunday preceding the first league games) there will be a women's clinic - all players of all ability levels are welcome. Games will start at 10 am each weekend, and 2 games will be played, so we should be done around 1 depending on how prompt everyone is.

Where?

This year due to lack of available grass fields we will be playing on the beach in Santa Monica at the end of Ocean Park Blvd. From the 405/10 interchange, take the 10 W, exit Lincoln Blvd., turn left (heading south) on Lincoln, turn right on Ocean Park Blvd. (about 1/2 mile down) and head to the beach. We meet where Ocean Park Blvd. hits the beach. There is a public parking lot just south of the end of Ocean Park Blvd. ($6 per day or 2 hr short term parking for I can't remember how much).

Who can play?

Women's League is open to female ultimate players of all skill levels who live in the greater Los Angeles area. The league is beginner friendly.

How do I join the league?

Anyone interested in participating should register online for the league by Friday April 25. The fee is $15 for on time registration or $20 for late registration.

How can I stay informed of registration deadlines and other Los Angeles women's ultimate information?

Make sure you are a member of the LA Women's Ultimate (lawu) yahoogroup
